With so many new — and plenty of familiar! — faces around here, we wanted to take a moment to share the story and mission behind Bend Soap Company. Here’s a little back-story to fill you in on where Bend Soap Company started and what’s happened over the years, as written by our Co-Founder, Marilee.
Watching a child suffer is so hard. As Dwight and I watched our son struggle with his eczema, we searched for a product that would help with his pain and itching. When no product was found in the stores, our research led us back to our very own farm.
We learned that fresh goat milk was rich in nutrients. Looking at our goats, we wondered… Could soap made with this milk be the answer to our son’s eczema
True, there were already plenty of soaps to choose from, but we discovered they are laced with toxins and junk! The more labels we read, the more we felt like lab rats who were slowly being poisoned.
“We need a pure soap!” Dwight proclaimed.
Keeping the ingredients simple and pure, he handcrafted his own bar.
Each day our son soaked in a bath of this pure, nutrient-rich soap, and before we knew it, his pain and itching were gone! We were so encouraged by the results, we made more soap and shared it with family, friends, bank tellers... Anyone who was interested.
The word spread and people started asking for more, and more soap. A small family farm business began and the soap was sold at craft shows up and down the west coast.
Wherever we went we always had travel soaps to share. Soon more natural products joined the soaps as we worked to provide natural solutions for more of our skincare needs.
The soap has not changed over the years, for its all-natural goodness is precious. As we grow, we choose not to compromise on the quality of the ingredients, for what goes on our skin is too great of importance to be careless.

I came to Bend Soap Company because I wanted natural soap with goat’s milk. I loved the story and I love supporting businesses such as yours. I have sent gifts from you to my family so hopefully they will start ordering from you as well. I am preparing to launch a homemade candle business online and was wondering, do you allow others to sell your soaps on their site? I also wanted to ask if you offer your products in doctor’s offices? My doctor is holistic and carries vitamins and other natural products in her office. She is here in Oklahoma and her name is Audralan Fox, her office is called Fusion MD at 5472 Main St #101, Del City, OK 73115. I hope this will benefit you and yours.
My daughter-in-law gave me soap, lip butter, and lotion for Christmas a couple years ago. I have been purchasing from you since then. I absolutely love your products and love to give as gifts to family and friends (whom have all loved it!).

Your soap and lotion are the only ones i use. I have a skin disease called Hailey Hailey (medical name is impossible to read) it’s the only thing that helps relieve my symptoms. I use steroids when it’s real bad and that thins out the skin as well so i try not to use to much. The lotion is a major help. I found y’all on Instagram and I’m so grateful i did.
Bought soap in the past & then bought locally. But like it that you soaps first ingredient is goat milk soap & that there are only a few ingredients. Will be buying again from you!
I’m in my eighties and have sensitive skin. I was so happy to stumble across your company and what you produce. In the seventies we lived out on Bear Creek Road east of Bend on the Burns highway. To find a Bend based business that could help my hide was glorious! I have since gotten some relatives to try your products too. Keep up the good work . You have a beautiful family.
